Schilling has done an admirable job in the closer role so far. He seems to improve as he goes along. Many people in the media say he should remain in that role even when Foulke returns. Why?
Shouldn't the Sox at least put him back in the starting role and see what he has? The media in particular is saying that he'll be no better than a #3 - which we already have enough of. Well how do you know if he doesn't go out there? Don't you think he'll use that notion as motivation?
It also depends on how effective Foulke is as well. If he can't bounce back and be effective, Schill might be forced to go back into that role. Not sure how well Foulke would react to being a set-up guy either. He seemed to excel more when the game is on the line, rather than just in getting work during a blowout. Don't expect to see him in Boston until he's thrown in the minors either - despite what he's said...
